Yours steps
1 Start from the Maison de la Cour car park, near the church. Head for the roundabout towards l'Aiguillon sur Vie and take the cycle path towards the marshes. To the west of the town, admire the expanse of marshland in the foreground, where sheep and cattle graze. In the background, behind a curtain of poplars and cypresses, you can see the Sauzaie dune massif. Cross the RD38 at the Océan roundabout and follow the signs for 2 directions.
2 Take the cycle path alongside the Jaunay or cross the Jaunay as far as the Cyprès campsite along a shady road towards the ocean. The course of the Jaunay has been channelled towards St Gilles following the silting up of its natural estuary. Enjoy the shade and coolness of the ancient woodland (cypresses, acacias, willows, etc.). Continue towards the ocean. The road crosses the dunes where you can see the 'mottées', remnants of former cultivation sites (vines, potatoes, onions, etc.). Drive to the shore. In front of you, the immensity of the ocean; at your feet, the beach stretching as far as St Gilles, where you can see the white buildings and red roofs. Retrace your steps and cross the Jaunay again, you will find yourself in a cultivated area of meadows, woods, maize, wheat and sunflowers. Continue towards the small pavilion. Cross the D38b and take the 2nd turning on the right onto chemin des Maraîchettes. Go up chemin Pétard alongside the Dauphins bleus campsite. Turn right into Rue du Danilo. Drive through the Arnaudières park past the bodywork shop.
3 To return, go around the town to the north and east, skirting the stadium and the new neighbourhoods, Avenue de la Chênaie and Chemin de la Barre. Head towards the town as far as the car park. In the urban area, you can walk along the footpaths linking the various living areas.
