ACTIVITIES IN THE SEA

Sailing is one of the unmissable activities here and the countless watersports centres (sailing schools, surfing and kitesurfing schools) have a wide range of watersports on offer, including activities suitable for families and people of all ages, for people looking to discover something new and have some great fun.

Gathering seafood by hand is another popular activity here thanks to the dense, rocky coastline, where you’re guaranteed some great finds and unbeatable pleasures.

EXPLORE THE DIFFERENT AREAS

Quartier des Halles

Now this is the kind of urban development we like, where contemporary architecture blends in perfectly with the traditional spirit of this seaside town. On Thursdays and Sundays, the town is brought to life by the local markets!

La Sauzaie

This is a former fishing village just north of Brétignolles-sur-Mer town centre, with single-storey houses on either side of the road.

La Parée

As soon as you arrive in La Parée, you’ll be overwhelmed by the holiday spirit all around you. La Parée is a lively place in the summer, just 1.2 km from the town centre, with the beach, funfair rides, bars and restaurants, shops and an evening market.

Les Dunes

The Dunes area is at the southern end of Brétignolles-sur-Mer, and the natural environment there is superb, thanks to the sandy beach (Dunes 1 and Dunes 2) that stretches for several kilometres across this protected dune area.

What is there to do in Brétignolles-sur-Mer?

Slow down the pace and set off on an exploration:

THE ROCKY COAST

From La Sauzaie to La Normandelière, the rocky coast is always a hit with fans of nature and hiking. Not-to-mention La Parée and the famous Sainte Véronique rock.

THE DUNE AREAS

  • La Sauzaie dune, on the north side, is one of the most beautiful dunes in Europe. This area is thought of as ‘a monument of Vendée’; the only vast dune area in the department without any wooded areas.

SURFING SPOTS

La Sauzaie is the place to be for surfers, overlooked by one the most beautiful dunes on the Atlantic Coast.

Just a few kilometres away from La Sauzaie, Les Dunes is another surfing spot on the sandy coast, suitable for all surfers, whatever their level of ability.
