1 Once you've parked at Point I, cross the rue du Ligneron to take the footpath that runs alongside the Ligneron. Go straight ahead as far as the railway line. A hairpin bend gives you a lovely view of the church of Notre Dame de Riez. At Chemin de l'Ile, turn right and cross the railway line. Cross the Ligneron and turn left towards Soullans.

2 The footpath ends at two wooden barriers and the Chemin du Porteau. Here is a signpost: follow Soullans on your right. Continue straight ahead until you reach the route du Soullandeau and then straight ahead again until you reach the chemin des Papinières on your left. After 400 metres, turn right onto Chemin du Bois Durand and continue past the Musée Milcendeau.

3 You will then come to the chemin de la grande Cheminée and the route du Soullandeau, where you turn right. Take the first left onto chemin des Ores and continue until you come to chemin du Porteau. Here, turn left to find the Porteau lock.

4 Follow the footpath through the marshland to the small bridge. When you reach the bridge, continue straight ahead, following cycle route 18. You will then come back to the village and turn left onto the Chemin de l'Ile. At the roundabout, turn left onto rue du 8 Mai 1945, towards Point I.
