The 04 Jul 2024

31st edition of the Déferlante la Vague à l'Art.

On the programme:

- Thursday 4 July: 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois (Grande Plage area). Free admission. As part of the La Déferlante festival. On 8 December 2022, the planet shook as Céline Dion announced the cancellation of her international tour... The "Tribioutes" team, Céline's fans, don't think twice and set off on tour to replace her at the drop of a hat... or at least with their boots on! After a well-organised meeting, they set about helping the star as best they could with what they had on hand. A little taken aback, they improvised a scene, backing vocals, a show, the hardest part being to decide "Who's doing Céline?

- Thursday 11 July: "C'est idiot, mais ça colle à la peau" by Yohan Durand - 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois (Grande Plage area). Free admission. An acrobat juggling with dexterity and humour reconciles us with an art many thought obsolete: diabolo. More than a show, it's a journey. Timeless and universal, C'est idiot, mais ça colle à la peau takes us to the frontiers of the arts, but also to the frontiers of our lives, against a backdrop of contemporary circus, juggling, dance and street theatre.

- Tuesday 16 July: "Étranges étrangers" by the Kilombo company - 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois. Free admission. In the hostility of this world, you look at your neighbours the wrong way, you spy on them, you're wary of them, you're scared... Because we don't know each other. Different personalities, different ways of expressing themselves, everything lends itself to misunderstanding between these two characters. Unicycling, handstands and juggling link the two characters, who hang upside down and share the same wheel. To prove wrong the expression "every man for himself and the sheep will be well looked after" and to share with the audience a moment of welcome and tolerance, Etranges étrangers offers a few moments of lightness and optimism. But if one person encroaches on the other's territory, what happens?

- Thursday 25 July: "Georgia" by Compagnie Annibal et ses Éléphants - 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois. Free admission. The Annibal et ses éléphants company explores a new universe, that of Hollywood film noir. Always with a theatricality borrowing from masked play, cinematographic and musical references, and revelling in the porosity of borders. Taking up the form of evening screenings, the five performers plunge the audience into a cinema session using the codes of the theatre. Between the opening and closing of the curtain, changes of scenery and soundtracks tinged with bebop jazz, a real police investigation takes shape. The plot, loosely adapted from Howard Fast's dark novel Sylvia, follows the life of a young girl through the eyes of a range of colourful characters, true to the America of the 1960s. The palette here is a very broad and cosmopolitan composition of human nature, in which men are far from playing the best role...

- Monday 29 July: "Gargarine is not dead" by Compagnies Les Sanglés & En corps en l'air - 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois. Free admission. On the launch pad, four unusual cosmonauts prepare to write a new page in the conquest of space. The emotion is palpable. As a tribute to the man who inspired them so much, they're going to do it! A last goodbye for a first amateur flight. Destination the stars... The planets are aligned, the trajectories validated, as long as the welds hold! Spiralling machinery, acrobatic and aerial stunts deliver a vertiginous epic that reveals many human follies...

- Thursday 8 August: "Fly Me to the Moon" by Léandre Clown - 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois. Free admission. In a world that moves too fast, clowning can be a break, a moment in the sun. Fly me to the Moon wants to be just that, a moment full of simple things like laughing, listening, being surprised and playing. A gift for the senses. My clown would like to take the audience to the sun, to the moon: before the cynicism, before the whirlwind of everyday problems. That familiar place we knew so well as children.

- Friday 16 August: "Wonder Petrol" by Cirque Rouages. 9.30pm, Quai Garcie Ferrande esplanade. Free admission. Wonder Petrol is an anticipatory street show, a circus fable, with dance and music, that poetically and derisively confronts the reality of the approaching end of the oil era. Beneath an imposing crane, the six characters face up to the dizziness of tomorrow by questioning their dreams and ambitions of yesterday.

- Friday 23 August: "Wet Side Story" by Compagnie Méchanic. 9pm, Parc du Petit Bois. Free admission. Wet Side Story is a cool, wet journey that everyone, whether you're a fan of a quick Italian shower or a long bath, can relate to. In this wet opera, acrobatics rub shoulders with lyrical song, shower flowers become juggling objects, and a modest bathtub becomes a boarding ship...
