Exposition “Paysages intérieurs”

Élise Tard defines her intention as capturing the very essence of inner life. "Rooted in reality and depicted in detail, the scenes are like photographs into which we plunge our gaze with benevolence and nostalgia. Yet the surrounding landscape is as if erased, purified, merely suggested by a line or a horizon. The subject is removed from reality and taken out of context. In this way, the reality of the outside world disappears, space and time are lost sight of, and the landscape is within the character rather than outside him or her. Élise Tard, who last year won the Jury Prize for her work at the Salon des Artistes Amateurs, now deserves her place among the established artists.
