Exhibition by Dominique Barré

Trained at the École Régionale des Beaux-Arts in Angers, where she spent two years drawing and six years painting, Dominique Barré is a professional painter who enjoys experimenting with different techniques and themes. Her preference is for acrylics: she likes to make her colours and make them vibrate, which can be particularly appreciated with her Koi carp emerging from the darkness and her swimmers underwater, reminiscent of David Hockney's swimming pools. More recently, she has turned to Indian ink, from which emerge imaginary landscapes and dreamlike scenes. Her painting is characterised by the diversity of its subjects, so she wanted each of the rooms in the Maison des Frères to represent a different world: fish, inks and then swimmers. As she puts it: "As I move from one series to the next, I take a step back, I open new eyes, I explore in order to renew, to learn more, to surprise myself too".
