This cycling loop reveals all the riches of the Jaunay river
Leaving from the Romanesque church of La Chaize Giraud, loop no. 8 takes you on a pleasant cycle ride. After leaving the town centre and its beautiful heritage, the route takes you through the lush countryside along the banks of the River Jaunay. There will be a few climbs in the first part of the route.
The loop takes in a number of rural footpaths and bridleways, allowing you to get as close to nature as possible. On the way back, don't hesitate to put your foot down to take advantage of the footbridge over the River Jaunay. It's a great place to take photos or enjoy a gourmet break!
Things to see and do:
- Notre Dame Romanesque church (M.H.C., 12th century), Poitevin-style portal with bas-reliefs
- La Croisée Mairand (site of the Vendée wars)
- Banks of the Jaunay (picnic areas).
- Pont de la Chaize: Napoleonic bridge (picnic area)
