Like a remnant of the past, the wash-house and its fountain in the centre of the village of l'Aiguillon sur Vie are a particular attraction.
This washhouse, built at the beginning of the 20th century, was once a public basin where women went to wash their clothes with water from a nearby spring. At the time, many villages had their own washhouse (protected from rain and bad weather), but many were destroyed with the arrival of the washing machine.
Forgotten for around twenty years, it was restored in 1993, and the washhouse at l'Aiguillon sur Vie, a key part of the town's heritage, is accompanied by a small fountain.
