This long west-facing beach of fine sand stretches for more than 3km from the port to the Plage du Jaunay (Pont Jaunay). The busiest area is in the northern part of the beach, near the embankment and the town centre of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie.
On the embankment, you'll find a pleasant pedestrian promenade along the seafront, alongside the many terraces of restaurants and cafés. Ideal for board sports (surfing, kite-surfing, bodyboarding...) it will also delight sand yacht enthusiasts. Children will love the beach club. The beach is bordered to the north and south by a dune belt with footpaths inviting you to take a stroll. The beach is supervised from late June to early September.
Type of beach: sandy beach, urban (north part of the beach), wild (south of the embankment).
Beach equipped with public toilets.
The Grande Plage de St Gilles has been awarded the Handiplage label (level 1).
