Notre-Dame-de-Riez – formerly known as Ile de Riez – is the perfect place for a holiday in the great outdoors, between the land and sea.

A holiday in the great outdoors

Fans of outdoor activities will be delighted with the walks, bike rides and freshwater fishing here.

There’s a walk to do along the banks of theLigneron towards the ‘Portes Notre Dame’, a lock which has been controlling the sea level since 1938. Behind the lock, the marshland stretches as far as Soullandeau peninsula.

Explore the plant life of Riez marsh by following the waymarked footpath, and you can also go fishing on the Vie and the Ligneron.

After the small bridge over the river Ligneron, there’s a children’s play area and picnic tables. This area is therefore ideal for quality time as a family. A skate park and sports pitch have also been made available in the town, perfect for the teenagers.
