Vilaine is an all-female vocal ensemble made up of 5 instrumentalist singers. Their repertoire of original polyphonic compositions explores the wealth of traditions found in France. They blend regional languages (Gallo, Breton, Basque, Alsatian, Provençal, Corsican, etc.) with rhythms inspired by French dances and the colours of world music. With this name, Vilaine highlights the strength and beauty of women past and present, in their differences, their diversity, their contradictions and their struggles.
