The 27 Nov 2024

Typhus Bronx, theatre / Clown

The show began with Typhus talking to the actor about his desire for a child.
The clown wants a companion to share his madness, a being to cherish and protect as best he can. After much soul-searching, his creator decides to grant his wish... in his own way. Typhus is jubilant, but he knows that time is running out. Soon the actor who lives inside him will resurface to silence him once more. His child will have to fend for himself if he is not to fall into the cold... But in this game of Russian dolls, who controls whom? Who is raising whom?
The show explores the relationship between the actor and his character. On one side there is the cerebral creator and on the other the organic creature. The social man versus the unfiltered clown. The adult and the child conversing within the same person. We are all beings steeped in paradox. But how do we find our balance between our normal Being and our deepest Being?
I'd like to start from the intimate and work towards universal questions: How much impertinence can we allow ourselves in a normative society? How much madness is needed to escape the violence of conformity? Should we learn to disobey in order to grow up?
We'll be talking about education, transmission, safeguards, free will, self-censorship and social oppression. But above all, freedom. To build or preserve.
