Somewhere between fantasy and reality, Dimanche paints a portrait of a humanity totally out of step with the times, caught up in the chaos of climate change.
A family is preparing to spend a Sunday at home. Despite the shaking walls, the gale-force wind and the deluge outside, which seems to be just warming up, life goes on. All around them, everything is changing and collapsing, and we see the surprising inventiveness of human beings trying to preserve their daily lives to the point of absurdity. At the same time, on the road, travelling the world, a team of animal reporters are preparing a documentary documenting the lives of the last living species on Earth.
The story unfolds in three acts dealing with three climatic catastrophes and their direct consequences on the life of a family: rising temperatures, violent hurricanes and tsunamis.
On the one hand, we follow the adventures of a team of animal reporters around the world, and on the other, life in a house behind closed doors. The members of the family are absorbed in their daily lives. A small world for whom an imminent end seems distant, absurd and unreal. Little by little, everything around them changes and crumbles as natural disasters wreak havoc, while they try to preserve their daily lives to the point of absurdity.
On the road, travelling the world, a team of three reporters bear witness to the incipient apocalypse. Using whatever resources they can find, they film the last living species to keep a record of what is disappearing before their very eyes. These occasional reports foreshadow the natural disasters to come, and complete the story by giving an outside perspective on the situation.
Running time: 1 hour 15 minutes.
