FESTIVAL SAINT JAZZ SUR VIE – JAZZ D’HIVER – SAINT GILLES CROIX DE VIE

On the programme: ER JAZZ 5tet - "HOPE

Trained in the schools of jazzman Barry Harris and classical accompaniment, Rennes-born pianist Eric Richard will be playing compositions from his album Hope, released at the end of last year, the fruit of a rich and varied career of encounters and experiences in the world of jazz and song.

His writing is imbued with a deep respect for post-bop jazz (the influence of Parker, Duke, Coltrane and post-romantic classical composers can all be discerned), but the arrangements are infused with daring moods and enjoy playing with structures and reference points.

For this concert, the usual trio of Redon double bassist Marion Pacaud and drummer Patrick Jouannic will be joined by Jérémie Mignotte on flute and Pierre-Yves Merel on tenor, both long-time accomplices of the trio, for an original and ambitious choice of timbres.
