EXPOSITION “LE VOYAGE DU COMMODORE ANSON”

For its annual exhibition, the Maison des Écrivains de la Mer is turning this year to a tragic episode in the maritime history of the 18th century, the round-the-world voyage of Commodore Anson's squadron, whose "Centurion" and "Wager" made the headlines.

Writer David Grann cross-references all the sources and testimonies to establish a precise chronology of all the events, for his epic work, "Les naufragés du Wager'". In it, he confirms the incredible courage of these sailors and their mad determination to survive. Once again, the adage holds true - reality surpasses fiction.
