At the Tourist Office in Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, Virginia's mission is to find out who the rising stars of the entertainment world are so as to swing, sing and delight the audience at Les Musicales.
The principle is simple: seven sites, seven concerts
And since there are 14 communes each one plays its part every two years. Les Musicales are held in Le Fenouiller and Givrand, in Brem-sur-Mer and Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez – they are all different, brilliantly performed and free.
There’s a lively musical cocktail for the summer evenings. Artistic diversity and cultural discovery spice up the festival. You won’t hear the same style of music twice in the seven concerts.
Atmospheric French songs, gospel, Irish or African music, French rock.
Every summer I come back to the Vendée and make the most of the mild evenings, taking the whole family to Les Musicales at Saint Gilles.
The atmosphere is really friendly and the same people come back every year, just like me. I love discovering music that I never imagined I would like. It's always a surprise to discover new talent. I was moved to tears – and I wasn’t the only one – to hear a group of Corsican singers, Arapa, in the church two years ago. Not to mention my whole family falling in love with the band Les Yeux d’la Tête. We’ve listened to their songs over and over again ever since and follow them enthusiastically.
I’m looking forward to discovering this year’s new groups.
